Vincent Bu is a Director at Collyer Law LLC and head of the Banking & Finance practice. With more than 15 years of experience in private practice. Vincent specialises in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, and private equity and venture capital investments, with a focus on Southeast Asia. His portfolio of corporate advisory work also encompasses advising clients on banking & finance, corporate governance, compliance, and employment matters.

Vincent has represented a wide range of clients including banks, MNCs, funds, family offices and HNWIs across various industry sectors.

​

Vincent is qualified and admitted to practice law in Singapore and Malaysia. He started his legal career at Baker & McKenzie Malaysia and commenced practice in Singapore as a Registered Foreign Lawyer in 2008. Vincent has worked in both local and international firms based in Singapore and was promoted to Associate Director at a regional corporate law firm, prior to joining Collyer Law LLC in 2018 as Director.

Management Committee Member Malaysian Association in Singapore (MASIS) – a not-for-profit organisation launched in 2014 with the support and encouragement of the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore.

 

Interests

 

Vincent assists his clients to achieve their long term goals by staying focused and solving their immediate commercial requirements whilst keeping sight of the big picture. To maintain his focus, Vincent is an avid cyclist and can often be found traversing Alpe Du Zwift (with keen hopes of experiencing Alpe D'Huez soon).

  • Advised Serentica Renewables, a decarbonization platform delivering renewable energy to large-scale commercial and industrial customers in India, on various corporate matters including fundraising (USD650,000,000 investment from KKR), corporate reorganisation, employee incentive plans and other corporate advisory matters.

  • ​​Advised Curefit (Cult.fit), a health and fitness company backed by Accel and Temasek, on various corporate matters, including acquisition of Onyx US and short form amalgamation of Curefit Healthcare Singapore with Tread.  â€‹

​

  • ​Advised Practo, India’s leading online doctor consultation app, backed by Tencent and Sequoia Capital, in connection with its Series D1 and Series E financing rounds. ​

​

  • ​Advised Slow Coffee, a Danish ESG-focused coffee producer on its strategic acquisition of a regional food business. ​

​

  • ​Advised a leading music technology publisher on various corporate advisory matters, including establishment of ESOP, fundraising and corporate reorganisation.​

​

  • ​Advised a NASDAQ-listed technology company on various M&A, financing and corporate advisory matters, including strategic acquisitions and corporate reorganization. ​

  • ​Advised Sanaka Capital on the simultaneous acquisitions of a warehouse DMS and B2B commercial platform and subsequent corporate reorganisation.​

  • Advised HolidayMe, a travel-tech company customizing international and domestic travel plans for its customers, in connection with its Series C fundraising round, including a secondary involving purchase of shares from an existing shareholder through a share buyback.

  • Advised Nuo Capital in connection with early-stage fundraising and corporate advisory matters, including investments from Sequoia India’s Surge, Polychain Capital and Consensys Ventures. 

​

  • Advised a Malaysian listed company on its strategic acquisition of a Singapore e-KYC business. 

​

  • Advised ServisHero, a regional online service provider platform, on its seed funding round and establishment of its regional operations. 

​

  • Advised BIC Product (Asia) Pte. Ltd. in connection with the regional corporate restructuring of its South-East Asian operations.

Banking & Finance â€‹

  • Advised Serentica Renewables, a decarbonization platform co-funded by KKR, as Singapore counsel in connection with various credit facilities from leading Indian banks and NBFIs, including some of the largest project financing transactions in the Indian renewable energy sector. 

​

  • Advised Vibrant Energy, a portfolio company of Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group (MAM-GIG), as Singapore counsel in connection with various credit facilities. 

​

  • Advised InMobi, a leading mobile advertising company funded by Softbank, as Singapore counsel in connection with senior secured credit facilities from a consortium of lenders led by Crestline Direct Finance, L.P. 

​

  • Advised AMP Solar Group Inc., a global renewable energy developer, as Singapore counsel in connection with USD350M secured credit facilities from a consortium of lenders led by Nomura Securities. 

​

  • Advised a NASDAQ-listed technology company as Singapore counsel in connection with various credit facilities approx. USD100M from US and European lenders. 

​

  • Advised State Bank of India as Singapore counsel in connection with the grant of secured credit facilities to a major city gas distribution platform in India. 

​

  • Advised a consortium of lenders led by IDFC First Bank Limited as Singapore counsel in connection with the grant of secured credit facilities for the expansion of part of the National Highway on the Indian southern coast. 

​

  • Advised Power Finance Corporation Limited as Singapore counsel in connection with the grant of secured credit facilities to subsidiaries of PETRONAS Berhad. 

​

  • Advised Aseem Infrastructure Finance Limited and Aditya Birla Finance Limited as Singapore counsel in connection with the grant of secured credit facilities to a major renewable energy developer. 

​

  • Advised a regional coconut plantation and processing business in connection with trade and credit facilities (approx. S$100M) from Singapore banks. 

​

  • Advised a regional ESG-focused coffee producer in connection with loan facilities from the Landscape Resilience Fund. 

​

  • Advised a mid-market private equity firm on mezzanine financing with PIK component to finance a proposed management buyout of a distributor of electronic communications equipment. 

​

  • Advised various regional start-ups including ShopUp Pte. Ltd. on growth capital financing from venture debt lenders. 

​

  • Advised a regional bank on various documentation and electronic signature requirements as part of an ongoing customer documentation streamlining exercise. 

​

  • Advised a regional freight forwarding group in relation to restructuring of debt capital investments as part of a wider group reorganisation.
