Syma is proficient in both English and Urdu. She is conversant in colloquial Bahasa Melayu, Punjabi and Hindi.

Syma has experience on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters with a focus on corporate governance, compliance and regulatory matters, including drafting of regulations for products listings. She has relevant experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, FMCGs, logistical and production sectors.
Her area of expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, domestic and cross-border joint ventures, public listings, and advisory work on corporate and commercial law matters, and operational matters.
She also has experience working on enquiries and investigations relating to competition laws in various jurisdictions, dawn raids, regulatory enquiries on compliance with anti-bribery and corruption laws, and work place anti-harassment laws.

Interests
​
Syma loves literature, in all its expressions, including film, music and drama.
She loves good food and tries to recreate good food at home for herself and the family.
When able Syma keeps up to date on Shariah law developments as well as developments in Islamic Banking and Finance, which she has a personal interest in.
With four children, her personal life is full of happiness and madness, and other hostages of love.
